North Saskatchewan River Valley Spill Response

The Project

Critical, urgent, necessary. When heritage legislation requirements need to be met quickly, efficiently, and effectively, Arrow has the skills, personnel, and experience to get the job done. When the North Saskatchewan River was impacted by a pipeline oil spill, Arrow was on the scene to ensure appropriate heritage conservation was completed quickly, and allow the proponent access to necessary staging areas, boat launches, and access trails. Lands immediately surrounding large river systems are considered high-potential for archaeological resources, and many hundreds of thousands of sites have been recorded in these environments.

During necessary operations to control, contain, and mitigate the oil spill, Arrow managed the heritage component of the spill response, and ensured that regulatory processes were resolved efficiently. Arrow recorded many new sites, and ensured the preservation of those sites either by avoidance, or proper study via mitigation. To ensure that spill response was not hindered for prolonged periods of time, programs were developed to physically cover sites that required mitigation until a later date. When heritage emergencies need resolution, Arrow has the skills to solve the problem, and get our clients back to work.
