Arrow offers a range of services in archaeological, palaeontological, heritage, cultural resource management and traditional knowledge and land use consulting and has been operating in western Canada for over 25 years. Our services include, but are not limited to, historical resource overviews and surveys, historical resource impact assessments, mitigation planning and execution, construction monitoring, mapping, archival and related research, client training and traditional knowledge and land use studies. The firm is capable of undertaking projects of any size, type and duration in western and northern Canada. Arrow is in Coaldale, Alberta with a satellite office in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.

 

Our History

Arrow was first incorporated in February of 1995 with its original partners. While the partnership of Arrow has changed over the 25+ years of operations, the values of Arrow have grown with the needs and expectations of the variety of heritage stakeholders.

Our Training

Arrow Archaeologists have graduate and/or undergraduate degrees in archaeology, biology and related disciplines from western North American and foreign universities and together have over 100 years of working experience in archaeology, palaeontology and environmental assessment. All Arrow personnel have substantial cultural, traditional and heritage resource assessment experience in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

Neil Mirau

Aapaa Ksiksinaam

  • President, Senior Archaeologist

Neil has worked in archaeology for over 25 years as a heritage resource consultant and university faculty member (geography and archaeology) at the University of Lethbridge, Okanagan University College, Red Crow Community College and other post-secondary institutions. His areas of expertise include the application of geology and geomorphology to archaeological problems and research, and palaeoenvironmental reconstruction. He also has 17 years of project and financial management experience.

Tyrel Kobes

B.Sc, MA

  • Principal Archaeologist, Director of Logistics and Operations

Tyrel has worked with Arrow for 10 years, has a Master’s Degree in archaeology from Simon Fraser University, and is the primary permit holding archaeologist for Arrow in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He has extensive field experience in all regions of Alberta and Saskatchewan, has completed HRIAs and excavations on historic and Pre-contact sites, and worked on excavation projects in Europe. He is an expert in heritage resource management law, regulatory requirements, and heritage planning related to development projects.
